How do i close the gap or react to a standing opponent while sitting down? All info is welcome
My problem is against wrestlers who stand up and grab both of my ankles.

Lean 45 degree angle toward them..
If they grab your ankles, pull their hands off.
If they start to pass, catch em with a hook.
Knowing they'll probably go to the other side, be ready to catch em with the other hook and turn the other way.

Fold your legs under you "indian style." Something I do a lot is let them have the ankles, but I'm ready to bring a knee between us as soon as they try to pass. (Most likely the bottom knee) Usually I spend a couple of seconds escaping a headlock, but then I can usually either nail a twister or at least take their back.

The problem with "indian style" is you could get forced to sit there as your opponent pushes your head down.. Instead try 1 leg indian style.

    This.

If they try to keep distance you can scoot closer and try to hook on leg with your foot to draw yourself near and go for a single leg takedown.

Exactly.. I went to Vista and showed the brothers this a couple weeks back. I expect when I get there next time, they will have mastered this tech... They just run like that.

I call it the one butterfly guard. A black belt named Leopaldo Serao was using it against me a few years back. I asked how how did it but I didn't get the response I wanted. Over the years I figured it out and added it to my game. Makes it tough for guys to pass your guard if you do it right.
