In the show Royce explained that that was the point. They knew that Rickson being more athletic would look far less impressive when he won, so they picked Royce because of his size and non athletic stature. That way Americans would see big, strong, dudes getting smashed by a tall skinny Brazilian. It is the greatest story ever. The David taking down the Goliath.
Royce single handedly drove BJJ's point home. The smaller, less athletic guy can find a way to win with leverage and technique.
