I just want a pimpin gi at this point. My gold weave Gracie Jiu Jitsu gi is pretty badass, but a Lucky Gi just screams " I'm awesome and everyone's gotta know about it!" :P But I'll prolly buy a shoyoroll or 2 in the future as well.
When I used to train BJJ, our instructor would make us wrap our own sweaty juiced out gis around our heads and calmly breath through them. It got us acclimated to being smothered pretty quickly.
Here are a few articles about the Gi vs No-Gi debate. The first one is actually an interview that Eddie did and he adds his two cents in the other articles.

He probably just found it funny watching you guys do that. lol
I got a gi burn on me neck wich my GF fliped out over as she blamed a woman for it, so for that i stay well clear. Then again i had one off a darce choke once as well, that was even harder to explain.
It's funny, Eddie preaches to be open minded to his students and not hate but most of you aren't open to the idea of the Gi. You train in it maybe a month or two and complain the whole time because you don't know how to properly use it and get choked a lot then bad mouth the Gi. A few of you have actually trained in it for years, then decided it wasn't for you and much props to you for that. I love the Gi, I love all Ju Jitsu period.
i'm not saying i hate the the gi i'm just saying its a pain in the arse i'm a firm believer that if you train in the gi it gives you a better you a better base for no gi i think i t was jean jacques machado thats said that on the fight works pod cast or some thing to that effect

I don't know. Whenever I've rolled with mid level Gi guys in no gi, it always seems to knock their skill level down a rank or two. Conversely the same thing happens to me once we slap on the gis. I'm sure it only takes maybe a couple of weeks to adjust into a no gi game but that first moment of rolling their grips are slipping, their hooks are missing, and they just can't seem to retain posture and control.
