I'm still surprised at the % of martial arts schools that have poor teaching attitudes. "Go pick a fight and see how you do?!" That's so crazy sounding to me.

And the poor kid who was disheartened under terrible mental and technical coaching to do martial arts anymore I feel bad for. It happens plenty in martial arts where I'll hear horror stories of a guy who's been training "Random McDojo/Bullshido Art X" and gets a high rank or even black belt and then is unfortunately confronted with a survive or die type physical altercation....and they get smashed.....hard. I'm surprised that schools that teach that stuff still get new students to sign up.

I've had Marky Marks get all serious and started pushing at 100% when rolling friendly. Its always when you don't know a SOB and they just want to feel good about themselves.

As soon as you feel someone is crossing a line when rolling just say "Are you being an ass hole on purpose?" Stand up, then look at them. Like you stood on fresh dog shit with your brand new Parda shoes.

I agree, just remember a lot of the new guys don't have as much control over their rolling intensity as the guys who trained longer. It takes at least a couple months to understand the concept of dialing down your intensity to suit the situation. A lot of the kids aren't even told their supposed to hold back to learn and people expect them to know that straight off the bat.

But if he's been there for a year and he's pulling shit like that, he's most likely a doosh.

That would be amazing, Bill! There is a guy around here who is a blue belt in Gracie JJ that tried to start a JJ club at the school, but it didn't work out. I'll see if I can get the contact info on that kid before the weekend is up. I was going to try to bring him to our school but got told he wasn't interested. Maybe you'll have better luck!

As soon as the new baby is a little bigger I plan on coming back out and rolling with you guys again.
