I share because it gets the artist and art out there. I have been exposed to more music through P2P networks than from commercial channels. If you share something for free people will come. If you hide it behind a membership the best and most deserving people will not find it.
Do you want to make a small amount of money with memberships and keep the "system" exclusive? or do you want the "system" to be out there, used by people around the world who will make it famous? That is a rhetorical question.
That is just my take on it.
Sounds like you're a thief, plain and simple. For every one artist that gains "exposure" from "Sharing" (Theft), 1000's of others have to work shitty jobs to make ends meet because millions of dollars are robbed out of their pockets. Now, I can understand if the artist or company is already a multi million dollar entity, like watching streams of the UFC online or sharing some Beatles or Metallica tunes, but if the artist or company hasn't achieved that status yet, I personally think that's f'd up. Sure, Eddie does well for himself but he also deserves to make sure his family is taken care of as well. And what's offered, for $5 is a crazy value, less then you spend at McDonalds each week. The mentality that stealing intellectual property is ok is bullshit and veiling it under the guise that you're actually "helping" the owner is equally bullshit, when you are just being greedy and selfish yourself and trying to justify your actions as being morally acceptable.
