How to get better Ranking at Tournaments

What is your thoughts?

I think when registering at tournys we should just register as 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu (not 10th Planet Riverside, Vista, Van Nuys Etc Etc.

All the other BJJ schools like to combine under one name like Gracie Barra , Nova Uniao Etc. that way it looks like they have the best team, not that they are the best but they are the biggest at the tourny so they end up with the highest points.

Which in the end gives them bigger bragging rights, more students and more money...

Do you think a better overall ranking at tournys under one umbrella 10PJJ will help all the moons?

I like this idea. When I finally get to compete (possibly NAGA in 8 days), I plan on registering under 10th Planet itself.

The last GQ we went to down here all the ATT's were under their individual flags and were still counted together. I think that if you belong to a specific gym there is a certain pride that comes with getting to rep that school.

I compete as 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. I own 10th Planet Hamburg. I train regularly at 10th Planet HQ, 10th Planet Burbank. Now also West L.A. I'll drop in at Van Nuys and Riverside. We ALL should compete at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu - especially when there are more moons at one tourney. You still can represent by wearing your school t-shirt!

Maybe its just me, I understand where yall are coming from but why would you not want to rep your school? Like I said in my previous post, so far any tourney we have gone to they combine it for total points and whatnot all while getting to rep your individual school. Is this an uncommon practice that is going on down here?

They Lump all the 10th planet schools together over here also. (Spokane, Portland and Eugene)

At eddies first seminar at 10th Planet Springfield we were getting ready to do a tournament which another moon was attending. Eddie specifically told us to compete as 10th Planet as one big team and not individual moons. So unless Eddie has changed his mind I would say go with competing under just 10th Planet. We are all a big jiu jitsu family anyways.

The tourneys I have seen out here don't lump them all together.

I know of schools changing their affiliation just to be part of a bigger team to look better to the public.

One school here in Vegas that I know of went from their own name affiliated with Machado to a Gracie school.

Another I know of goes by his own name but at tourneys becomes Nova Uniao.
