MMA or " Mixed Messages Belt "

MMA schools are good at making " Jacks of All Trades " & " Masters of None " learn your jit's at an jiu jitsu only school, your muy thai at a muy thai school, wrestling at a wrestling school. Even though I did muy thai in countless fights growing up. I'll never tell a perspective student that I can teach them jiu jitsu and muy thai just to " make money" Unfortunately, this happens all the time with karate & muy thai schools trying to act like they can teach jiu jitsu and leaving many holes in unsuspecting students game. Example: a mma fighter told me he was a " Green Belt " in Jiu Jitsu, I laughed and told him there is no " Green Belt " in BJJ. He insisted I was wrong after 14 years of studying jits. Then his own instructor said he got his "Green belt" from a former kickboxing now MMA school. So that dude has the Pervervial " Mixed Messages Belt "

Your white belt turns black from blood sweat and tears theres no belt system in Shizen Ryu and the purpose is to learn as much as possible to make the style the art more practical more effective. My sensei would bring in a judo black belt or a muay thai fighter ECT... to come in work with us on techniques its not about belts but knowledge and understanding.

of course not !! The belt only recognizes a certain level of technical mastery. But with the many levels & layers to levels in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, just the fact that technical knowledge only takes you half way, the rest is creativity, And with BJJ being the most complex of martial arts. Many traditional martial art instructors have " Huge Ego's " and don't want to feel like " babies " again. So they will pick and choose " pieces of our Art " without studying the whole Art, and then they give out belts and have the nerve to call it Brazilian jiu jitsu. They might as well Piss on a students leg and tell them it's raining.

Actually, a friend of mine visited a Gracie school in Buffalo last week and he told me there were green belts there. He asked what was going on and the teacher told him that Americans need a pat on the back more often than Brazilians so they started giving out green belts between white and blue.

I've heard of Yellow belts for kids between White & Blue because of the danger of Arm Locks ect. so it's better to teach really young kids only flow and Sweeps, because they yet don't understand the danger, just like " New Adults " but only for kids not 25 year old MMA fighters

I find it hilarious when people brag about their incorrectly colored BJJ achievement belts. I met a dude at the bar the other night who was talkin shit about being an orange belt in BJJ. I LOLed. Didn't give him too much shit for it tho, you don't want to push people who lie about their MMA training, they tend to have unstable personalities and can snap at any moment. I'm sure you've all been in a friendly convo about MMA and had some douche bag start talkin shit about it. I love it. A 10th planet student would never act like such a douche. 10thPJJ Forever!

Right on Sun !!! As Eddie say's Jits is certainly a douche bag filter. And the fact that you have to start out as a " Baby " is too much for a lot of dudes to handle. Some Fighters fight because they "love the sport", some fight because they "Need the Money" And most are both "Love and necessities" . But theres a "small few" who fight because they may have never had fights in the "Real World" or they always "Ran From People" and they want to proove to themselves that there not cowards. That's insecurity, that leads to Douchness.

Actually there are many stand up techniques to Gracie Jiu Jitsu, it's just that most schools forget to teach that aspect, which really pissed Grand Master Helio off.
