So, I know that Purple Belt is not a huge milestone for a lot of people, and I know I am still way down the totem pole in the big scheme of things, but today was incredibly special for me.
I just wanna say that I am so happy and honored to be a part of 10th Planet. Other grapplers from other associations may not understand, and that's ok. People can think and say whatever they want to about Eddie Bravo, but Eddie is a good man. Like, a genuinely good person, and anyone who actually knows him is fully aware that this is not up for debate. He honestly cares about what's going on with us way out here in the boondocks, and that means the world to me because this is my family that I sweat with and bleed with every night. We pour our hearts out right in front of each other EVERY NIGHT. This is not a money grab for Eddie. This is his passion and his life. He cares about my family (both my gym family and my wife and kids), and that means everything to me.
I am so proud of all the people in our gym: white belt, blue belt... whatever. It makes me feel incredible to know that you have put your faith in me to guide you, and I feel an incredible burden to guide you with wisdom; not just as grapplers, but as people and as martial artists. Thank you so much to all of you. You could have easily dismissed me because of my rank (and I wouldn't have blamed you) and never given me a chance to share this journey with you, but you saw something in me that made you believe that I could help. Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you to Alder Hampel and Chris Herzog, as well, for spending so much time on me. I know at times it has been like polishing a turd (especially in the beginning with Alder teaching me the 10th Planet stuff from the ground up, pretty much), but I am forever grateful and indebted to you for your patience and your willingness to share something that you have worked so hard to gain.
Eddie, thank you for 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu

I hope that one day I can be as much of a blessing to you as you have been to me.
I love you guys!
