Slick Rick, why are your answers about Your Evil Guard vague. You just bragged about the props you got from Goker, but don't really give an explanation of the guard you were applauded for. What is Evil Guard?

True about Gokor. I think the point of my first post of this thread was just the irony of how everything goes full circle in the jiu jitsu community. Gokor, Eddie, Gene, Machados go back some good years. Eddie even taking a liking to Gokors techs by naming a move after him.
But the irony of me, under Sean in turn under Eddie, teaching techs at Gokors had me reflect at how small the community is. How I got to this point, the paths I've been on.. It was a trip.

As for video, I think my trip out to Chanute will be the first time it'll be on video. I don't have the time to video tape it but I've been teaching it at every gym I've been going to.. In person it's easy to show the concept to people and the drills to do. On paper well, it's all the techs put together but also the timing of transitioning.

Waiting for the public net to get put up at work so I can respond faster.

There are the holes, but it's a work in progress and has defended 98-99% of the passes.

Off the top of my head tho, try drilling this- keep both hooks in and your partner tries to back away. If one of the hooks escapes, what would you do?

i guess it kind of depends on which hook, underhook or overhook side. no?

if the overhook side goes i wouldn't worry much as i could still sweep but if the underhook side goes and my opponent's weight goes over to that side then it gets a bit tough to work from there.

my bad Tony.. I should have been more explicit. The hooks I was talking about was the butterfly hooks, not to be mistaken for the arm over-under hooks. Although all that comes into play too.

Ian, I'm sorry to ambiguate things but even describing something as hooks, things can get messed up. So this evil guard as I call it, is named so because people have said I have a sick guard, or a killer guard.. I just thought Evil sounded cool. Has a nice ring to it. My guard is evil. I really believe it.. There are certain ways to pass, which is why I keep showing everyone. I want to expose my game like Marcelo does, because it only makes you stronger. And in the matches and different looks, I've exposed more holes that needed patching. Eventually it too can be thought of as a system. But I don't like to think of it that way. I just want everyone to have Evil Guards.

It's super annoying to people when they can't pass your guard and then, finally when they do, it is a victory in and of itself.. I applaud them on that, but the ultimate goal is the win, not the pass. I just make it that much harder for them.

Evil Guard elements: arm drags, sit ups, butterfly sweeps, inverted guard, deep half, one legged Indian, butterfly guard, avoiding getting passed, jailbreaking, pyramidding, guillotines, takedowns from the knees, inverted arm bars, omo platas, trickery, hooks with legs/with arms, taking the back, points of contact, "lazy guard"

It would be hard to tell you in one email what to do with everything to make it evil, but I've put my rounds in... Well over 5000 now. The patterns are starting to become clearer.

oh ya, i know what you meant. i was referring to the when the butterfly hook is lost how it depends for me on if it is on my arm underhook or overhook side, as mentioned i can deal with losing the butterfly hook on the overhook side much better. in that case i would use my existing hook to sweep still kind of like the jean jacques sweep #1 (sweeping to the overhook side) where i use the lost hook to push off the mat.

i'm curious how yourself and other duders deal with losing a butterfly hook as well.

I dont think Ian is asking for every move you have. You keep saying how complex it is and how deep it is, which I in no way doubt. But it is just another guard and everyone can explain a move in a certain guard on paper. I Think Ian just wants something rather than "Its complicated". I mean the details on just the meat hook are complicated but we can type them out or make a 2 minute video explaining that one position with a lot of the details included.

I personally am just waiting for the videos. So this response is mainly just to maybe shed some light on what Ian keeps asking for.
