Brandon is right on here - but I think its worth mentioning that the #1 - squeeze & extend the lockdown should be the LAST thing that you do to elicit a tap. If you do this before pinning the guys knee to the mat with your shoulders than you will find yourself struggling - your upper body just won't be strong enough to pin the guys knee if you already have the lockdown squeezed & extended.

In my experience this is where most people go wrong. If you can pin the guys leg to the mat with your shoulders 1st (or as close as you can get) - then when you finally do extend & squeeze your legs you'll get the tap on all but the most flexible guys. You'll have the combined strength of your hips & both legs against just one of your opponents legs - that is a battle I'll take every time!

I actually hit this in my last tournament & it was my favorite win of any of my matches so far. I hope this helps...

That's the guy that gave me my new favorite term - I use it every week in practice now 'Angry Rainbow! Angry Rainbow!'. The funny thing is I never heard the phrase before but I knew what you meant~

I love the Electric Chair, it was one of my first submissions that I learned. This video kicked it all off for me.

I usually squeeze that grip on the knee, then turn my shoulder with the leg to the mat with a tight lockdown.

i tried and tried last night but couldnt get it )= I got the sweep from there but kinda confused,am I supposed to post up and my left arm like the video or lay flat, whenever I post up, I feel like my balance is all off... could have been because I was doing it to a biggre guy maybe?

    1) Make sure you are coming up on your elbow.

2)Constantly stretch your legs, from the moment you establish your lockdown to the point the submission itself. Its a common mistake to relax your legs while your are "angry rainbowing" up on to your elbow. Its at this point your opponent can "adjust" to alleviate the pressure if you fail to maintain that stretch.

    3) Also make sure your ankles are stacked in the lockdown. Its another common mistake that the outside leg is mid calf to knee, make sure they are completely stretched out. Your legs should feel like they are both doing the same amount of work.

Negative. Your legs should always be stretched and extended.
