Joe isn't correct here. You get all kinds of people. Against a guy/girl that wants to claw your eyes out, everything changes! same deal with knifes. You can have all your wrist tendons cut before you realize you can't operate any digits. That is a lot of surgery and rehab. Hell you can be disemboweled with a single stroke of an Olfa blade. A guy with training 7/10 times wins versus a guy with no training. Add weapons and a guy trained to deal with weapon attacks wins 7/10 times against your average knife/ox weilding assailant.
Now an unarmed BJJ guy vs a knife weilding Kali guy? LOL. I'd rather not think about it. I saw a karambit demonstration and was terrified. If I ever see a guy take a kali stance I'll apologize to high heaven kid. Hahah.
But you're right. Fighting (if not for sport) should ALWAYS be a last resort.
