Crossfit, good idea to get into shape?

after college i grabbed the barbell in the gym and did one of the WODs that i liked the look of on youtube ( theres sooo many) and although i didnt perform at a championship level i still felt completely fucked. it felt like a solid little session even though it was only for 15 minutes. after a little break i still had the energy to go over some good heavy lifting and my usual stretching routine. i think i might start doing similar workouts on a more regular basis, they seem to be working for quite a lot of people. add that to my new semi-paleo nutrition rules/plan and maybe ill start losing so good flab

what do you guys think of crossfit?

As a concept its perfect for Combat Sports. I'm just not a fan of the organization. Everything you do should be functional strength and dynamic motion related. There are very few static excercises that will transfer to Combat Sports as well as functional/dynamic excercises.

if you go to the gym, lift first, then do crossfit, for the sole reason you can lift your max for optimal gain.

yeah... like kza just said. Strength workouts shopuld always be done when you're fresh. Anyway, here's the order of how you should arrange your workout.
    1. Technical (learning or perfecting technique at medium intensity)
    2. Technical (perfecting technique at submaximal and maximal intensity)
    3. Speed
    4. Speed-endurance (anaerobic endurance)
    5. Strength with submaximal and maximal loads
    6. Muscular endurance with medium and low loads
    7. Muscular endurance with high and maximal intensity
    8. Aerobic endurance with maximum intensity
    9. Aerobic endurance with medium intensity

All I do is crossfit now. I'm a personal trainer at the Anytime Fitness gyms and I gave up regular dumbbells awhile back, Kettlebells are me new best friend. The whole crossfit system is great and develops functional muscle.

I started crossfit about 3 weeks ago and I can tell a big difference in a lot of areas...I can say personallly that crossfit is better than doing basic lifts...

I am a fan of Crossfit, but as with anything, the coach needs to be good.

I am a Crossfit CF-L1 trainer and the majority of my gyms strength and conditioning program is crossfit. We have seen huge results so Im a believer. My buddy owns a crossfit box in PA and it is amazing what some of his clients can do.
