The "New" Technique Thread

Not sure if this will work, but I think it's worth a shot.

Can we make this a thread for links to vids of subs/passes/etc that we all stumble upon to see if anyone else has done the same thing? Maybe we can all acid-test them to see how viable they are and pass ideas/counters/observations back and forth. The intent would NOT be to show moves we all already know (lockdown, darce, etc).

Anybody think this is a good idea?

I suggest as a white belt and blue belt focus on the basics, all to often people are worried about trying to invent something, which is starting to become a trend here. There is a huge diffrence between having an "open mind" and having a "mind wide open".


Spend your time (YEARS) on tested, proven techniques. Become proficient at them. Then work on the exploratory side of Jiu Jitsu, you'll have a solid foundation and understanding by then so you have a general idea if its going to work or not, so you won't have to ask other white belts there opinion on a technique.

While I completely agree with this, and the Bruce Lee theory of daily decrease not increase, I work out things mostly on my own I'm hoping that if I (or someone else) stumbles upon something that has already been explored and found to be a bad idea I won't waste time working on it. I don't have crazy leg dexterity, so I'm not chasing down the next bizarre "WTF?!?!" move.

I thought you meant debatable vids from credible instructors. Your tech is seriously flawed with unatural control and reaction.

Chris nailed it. Eddie has always said, "Brown affiliates or above may post tech vids."" Unless you kill with it in comp, then we'd love to see it."
