best bet to increase your choke tolerance is when you are caught in one hold out for as long as you can, delay the tap as much as possible. Chokes aren't like joint locks or other submissions where you get hurt if you don't tap. Worst case on a choke you take a nap and your partner lets go (hopefully) The more you start holding out on chokes the sooner you'll see your tolerance go up.
Always better not to be caught though.
