So she's physically disabled, and that nullifies corporal punishment how? It's not like she didn't know what she was doing, and from what I have seen, he didn't do anything but spank her with a belt. My father was an abusive (mentally and physically) person. He continues to be abusive although it's not nearly as effective now that he is old and I am grown. Without the huge sob story I can tell you this. I moved out when I was 12. He and I got into a fist fight when I was 15 and if not for a very close girlfriend of mine stopping me, I can almost assure you I would have killed him. I was arrested at 16 for shooting a man. I spent almost 2 years in the system and fortunately for me I was assigned a case worker that recognized my issues and placed me in a therapeutic environment (group home for abused and neglected children) instead of letting me rot in lock up. During my time at that group home I learned a lot about abuse and anger and self control. I learned that normal human beings don't do this type of shit to their children.

So yes, I am a pretty decent guy, a hell of a dad, and a contributing member of society. But it wasn't without years of therapy and counseling to recover from the shit that my father did to me.

So I think I have at least some authority to speak on this matter. If not this case in particular but at least abuse in general.

sure this guy raised his kid however he wants...but the way he reacted is beyond obvious he has some issues or brings his work home with him. he could have taken her computer away for a week or something else to scold her. whooping her THAT bad over a computer game is excessive...but i guess if you look at most arguments among family members, it's usually over something trivial.

Should have fucking got on the bed like she was told to do. It's not like he hit her with his fist, and she's a woman, she's going to make a big scene out of getting hit no matter what. He was punishing her after, from what I can gather, multiple warnings about misusing the computer. Sure, it seemed unnecessary, and sure you say you wouldn't do that to your kid, but it isn't your kid, so why don't you stay the fuck out of it? Like I said, I am not against whipping my child when warranted. But what he was doing was beating her. On the legs, the arms, the back, etc. What he was doing was screaming obscenities at her and belittling her as if she was a dog. My point is that loving parents don't do that. The goal of an ass whipping should always be to better the child. If it is done in anger and is complimented with varying insults and curse words it become abuse. That is my point.

He was just mad. Ever get mad before? Happens all the time, dude. Sometimes people don't have the forethought to take a deep breath, and think about what they are about to do. Like when you mentioned I was "beat" by my Father. Sometimes thinking ahead, and being critical is just to hard for some people sometimes. That doesn't mean he is an unfit parent, or that he should loose his job. I also feel like you are ignoring all my points, and that you just want to be "right"
