when people come to train, they are not coming to compete in public. tournament tapes are fine to post, but in house matches are in poor taste. People need to be able to go to their gym and work out their game without the fear of being put on the internet for all to see. even if you think they look good in their matches, it doesnt mean they feel good about them.
what if i want to work on mount escapes all night, so i allow people to mount me. Then, a couple of guys catch me cause i let them play in mount. Now, that goes up on the internet for all to see, and people form opinions based on that. its not fair and it discourages people from working on their game. it also sets a horrible tone for practice. no longer are people training for fun, they are now training to not be embarassed.
stuff that happens at the gym stays at the gym. when i walk on the mats, i have done a full days work at my 9-5, and have already rolled 5 rounds from standing with clients to whom i have taught privates (note, all the guys i teach are purple belts, so they are not easy rolls). so, by the time i would be taped, i am fucking exhausted. my opponent, on the other hand, may have just woken up from a nap after his mom made him a pre training meal. i know plenty of guys who have been working since 6 am and then come in to train. should they have to be up to being taped every day?
you want to put videos of yourself up after asking your opponent, then fine. but its not okay to just tape a practice and post it everywhere. taping is for competition.
