I know the "Godfather of Grappling" is Gene LeBell. Defender of the grappling faith for many years when people thought it was just a bunch of guys wrestling in pj's. Also Eddie said that he thinks Gene may have been the one to show him some of the stuff he uses today. Anyway you cut it, Eddie is a game changer with fantastic teachers and people who support him.

Gene Lebell is a god. If some dude ever refuses to tap and blacks out on me I am immediately pulling a Gene Lebell, which is where you ask the helpful bystanders for a glass of water and then proceed to throw it on the victims crotch. As he wakes up, you break that bad news and inform him that he lost control of his bladder.

I need to get to a Lebell seminar, I needs my patch.

I think jj competition refereeing rules need to evolve with jj's evolution. When the points system is revised jj will further evolve.

I think for 10th Planet to qualify as American Jiu-Jitsu, it would need to get to a point where people from outside the US would have to assume an American doing Jiu-Jitsu is doing 10th Planet. As in, if you meet a Brazilian, and he says he does Jiu-Jitsu, it's gonna be Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as opposed to Traditional/Japanese JJ.

They used to just call it Gracie JJ before the UFC exposed it to everyone, right?
