I don't think I saw another thread about the Pacquiao vs Marquez fight. Did anyone else think that Marquez won the fight ?

Just watching it I thought Marquez won seven rounds to five, (115-113 I think) but I really know nothing about how boxing is scored or what the Judges are looking for etc.

I had Pac-Man winning by 1 round. But I can see how maybe like 3 of those rounds could have went either way. Marquez landed some good shots, but what I think the judges were looking at is the punch output and "effective aggression". Marquez never really went after Pac-Man, he just counter punched the whole fight. I guess it all depends on who the judges thought dictated and controlled the round, when the rounds are close like that.

I like both boxers, but Pacman won that fight by a couple of points. Tactical battle and great fight from both fighters and a close fight for sure, but aggressiveness and punches landed go to Pacman.

Watching the fight I thought that Marquez won but looking at the Compu Box stats I have to concede to Pac.

It was an excellent fight and very, very close. Certainly much closer than the odds makers and many fans thought it would be. That being said I don't understand how so many people are claiming that JMM got robbed. Like i said it was a very competitive fight but IMHO Pacman won that fight with out a doubt. I had it 7 rounds to 5 for Manny. Many of those rounds were very close though. I must also admit that im far from an expert when it comes to boxing and especially how boxing judges score fights but after watching the fight it was clear to me that Manny won. Great fight though. Here's hoping Floyd grows a pair and accepts a fight with Manny, to me it's really the only exciting fight left in the boxing world at the moment.

Personally I've never trusted Compubox stats since they said that Joe Calzaghe landed way WAY more shots ( A record) on Bernard Hopkins then what I could see in the fight but that's just my opinion.

I think it's interesting when you look at how easily Mayweather handled Marquez compared to how Manny couldn't get to grips with him in all 3 fights. Styles make fights though so I just wish those two would finally get it on already. Fight should already have happened years ago.
