Ude Garami is Japanese and translates as arm entanglement, its the generic term for all bent arm locks like the kimura, americana, key locks, etc.

Ive got a question just out of curiosity.. Im not sure how much youve played around with this move yet.. but how often does the person on top spin around into side control when going for this move? For instance at 0:33 when you bring both arms to the same side of his body.. what stops him from spinning the other direction until landing in side control/cradle? Or is this one of those moves where you have to just sit up and grab the far shoulder as quick as possible before that happens? Either way.. worst case scenario.. you've at least got the sub attempt in there.. and if you dont get it youre just working to escape side.. But I was just wondering if this was working a decent percentage of the time.

I read that same definition when I looked ude garami so I thought it was a kimura or americana he was referring to. It's cool to have you on my thread Chris.

Video response is coming. Probably won't be up till tomorrow because it takes Youtube a bit to process the video. Nice questions though. Any other questions please ask.
