Totally true,I work as an EMT 7 have acquired ear swelling from rugby, judo, bjj and Ive just compressed the clots by myself, any time you introduce a needle to drain, that itself is puncturing the skin & creates another route for infection-especially staph.
Having had a staph infection (not from martial arts) its a beaaatch! nearly lost my leg
Ice it,compress it and protect it with tape/scrum cap/wrestlingheadgear. otherwise find a girl that loves you for you & wear that vegetable patch with pride!
Damn, you nearly lost your leg!!?? I used to play rugby too so I know well about ear problems, I think if you just use a scrumcap or tape you'll be fine for the most part.

There are only 2 ways I have found of getting a nosebleed clamp. 1) Order online from Japan. Takes about a week. 2) Go to an emergency room, make friends with a nurse/doctor, and ask for a free one. DON'T SIGN IN OR ANYTHING. Or else they can charge your insurance for an ER visit. They are not really supposed to give out stuff for free (liability), but if you are a decent schmoozer, it works. If not, back to option 1)

Think OP is in Germany so it'll probably be easier.

You can use a clothes pin on your ear after draining it. Beware though, after leaving it on for awhile, it hurt worse taking it off than it did putting it on. lol
