I WEAR ORTHOTICS. CAN I STILL WEAR VIBRAM FIVEFINGERS?
FiveFingers footwear is designed to promote better foot mechanics— naturally. An orthotic is an assistive device to support your foot’s function and help you compensate for any biological aberrations. If you have an extremely flat foot, you will need to work into wearing your FiveFingers® gradually, as your muscles will need time to adapt and strengthen.

CAN I USE MY ORTHOTICS IN MY FIVEFINGERS?
FiveFingers are designed to be worn directly against the sole of your foot. Putting something between the two would defeat their purpose.

i do 100m sprints in my vibram kso's all time. it's gonna take some time for you or anyone to get used to running barefoot/vibrams. you will be using muscles that you have never really used before. and you have to toughen up the soles of your feet. you don't need 2 pairs. just buy the kso's and you'll be fine.

when i first started running "properly", even before i got the vibrams, i felt so happy about not feeling any more lower back pain or shin splints, that i ran everyday. not very long distances, doing about 3 miles/day. but i could feel some soreness and pain at the top of my foot where it connects with the ankle. i knew it was just from overtraining.
I hear ya. Overtraining is overtraining, no matter if you're wearing no shoes or the latest high tech sports shoe. The body can only take so much at a time.

Awesome! You won't be disappointed. Just remember to ease into training with them.

make sure you get the right size

it's gotta fit snug and tight like a glove, not like a regular shoe where you would usually want about an inch of breathing room.

thanks ian, i used that exact video for sizing.

and don't worry, i'm not looking to run once for an hour only to say "they hurt" and shit like that. i'll be taking my time.

^you don't need the vibrams to run barefoot/properly. you can actually run totally "barefoot". start off by running on a football field or smooth asphalt. it feels awesome. just walking barefoot on those surfaces feels awesome. fuck nike/reebok/adidas/etc.. fuck regular shoes.

I have started running barefoot on my treadmill. I up to almost 2 miles before my soft feet start to blister but I can already feel a difference when running with shoes.
Thanks for the post, I am ordering my kso when I get paid the first.
