    Impressed with Michael Bisping

I think he fought a very smart match. When mounted in round 1, he did not seem to panic, overly expose his elbows, or rush the escape. He stayed out of Miller's guard until Miller's fatigue lowered his submission threats. He chose to stay on top of a turtled Miller and strike rather than attempt to put hooks in for a choke.

In my world, that qualifies as a smart match against a BJJ black belt.

As a pure jiu jitsu guy, what would you do against Bisping?

Other thoughts from the fights on Spike last night:
Tony Ferguson: rolling omoplata from a sprawl!! Did not finish but wow, excited to see him fight again.
Diego Brandao: Awesome Granby rolls and submission from the bottom. Excited to see him fight again.

I wasn't so much impressed with Bisping as UNimpressed with Miller (and I am a huge Miller fan)... I have to give Bisping the credit but it really seemed like Miller gassed very very quickly leading to a barrage of Aoki-esque tactics (and I am an Aoki fan too)... I half expected Miller to start butt scooting around the octagon to try and grab a leg. Miller unfortunately had nothing for Bisping on the feet, those overhand rights just weren't working so I'm not sure why Miller kept relying on them. He just seemed so gassed so even his JJ game was ineffective at the end.

Tony Ferguson did a great job, Yves Edwards is no joke. Diego is a BEAST and the fight with Bermudez IMO was the best on the card. Bermudez fought a great fight too. I remember at the time I was thinking of that recent interview with Rickson where he said that BJJ had lost most of its effectiveness in modern MMA and then BAM! Diego got the armbar. That was pretty sweet!

Yea I saw the Melendez-Aoki massacre I believe you are referring to. I think BJJ has yet to re-explode in the UFC. Once we see guys who play that Marcelo-style game where you can FAIL a wrestling shot and transition right into deep half, lockdown, X-gaurd, butterfly/spider, and 1-legged X, wow...

I think we have a lot to look forward to =).

Still, Bisping makes for a tough matchup for any BJJ guy I think, he has not been submitted in the UFC. I think you'd have to omoplata him =)

I'd like to see him take on Palhares or Maia

I wasn't impressed with douchebag Bisping. Miller sucked!!! Plain & simple. Miller honestly probably doesn't deserve to fight in the UFC again.

That leg-wrapping mount Miller had in the 1st round seemed like an amazing idea, but perhaps he should have spent more time looking for head and arm control and moving to S-Mount.

It was tough to watch... Miller CAN fight and he's shown it in the past... I didn't get the Rocky Balboa-type tactics he almost immediately resorted to when his takedowns got stuffed. Bisping OTOH worked his gameplan well. I do have a hard time watching Dana openly remark on possibly cutting Miller after one crappy fight when guys like Dan Hardy are around after 4 consecutive losses, and certainly there have been other fighters with losses after 10-8 rounds, etc. No doubt that Mayhem seriously needs to go back to the drawing board though.

How was he suppose to transition to S mount with Bisping sitting up with his back to the cage?

Well, I guess with the more standard mount, he could look to scoop an elbow and move his knee up, then establish head and arm control, then move to S-Mount.
