Budo Challenge

My friend just showed me this video and its great BJJ but the rules are unique and I think deff preferable to the IBJJF. Especially that holding, sweeping or even mounting only get 1 point. Where as submission attempts get 3 if they are legit.



Scoring - Positive Points:

One Point:
Throw with control on the ground for 3 seconds
Any reversal that is not a scramble
Sweeps
Passing the guard
Knee on the stomach
Mount
Taking the back

Three Points:
A submission attempt that presents significant danger to the opponent

Scoring - Negative Points:

-1 Point Standing:
>Stalling or keeping the same grip without any offensive action for more than 15 seconds

-1 Point On the Ground:
Holding the same position for more than 20 seconds without any attack
Pulling guard

-1 Point At All Times:
Avoiding the fight
Running away from the fighting area

Legal Techniques:
All throws, reversals and sweeps
All Submissions chokes, arm-locks, knee-locks, heel-hooks, wristlocks, biceps and alf-locks, foot-locks

Illegal Techniques:
All neck-cranks and cervical holds
Slamming the opponent to escape a finishing hold

Disqualifications:
Eyes gouges, grabbing the hair or the genitals
Any intentional strikes including but not limited to punching, kicking, kneeing etc
Using any illegal finishing holds
Twisting of fingers and toes
Running away from the fighting area when a submission is applied. In other words leaving the fighting area to escape a submission
Escaping the fighting area 3 times in one match

WAAAYYYYYY better scoring system right there

Good scoring system! Neck Cranks need to be allowed... I guess they are still considered 'teh deadly' though.

It is not a Bias against playing the guard. Its a bias against pulling guard and not doing anything, yes you loose 1 point for pulling guard but then you get 3 for any legit sub attack. If on the other hand you get a take down and move to mount thats only 2 points. so really pulling guard and going for a sub is the same in the turny as takedown and mount 1+1=3-1
