One day Stephan Bonnar invented a line of parody tshirts, based on a line of cards from an 80s gross out phenomenon called Garbage Pail Kids.

Due to his unauthorized depiction in the “Trash Talkin’ Kids” t-shirt line, UFC star Josh Koscheck is suing NGAUGE, the MMA artwork and apparel company co-founded by Stephan Bonnar. NGAUGE was officially served with notice of the lawsuit yesterday morning.

Though a source at NGAUGE told us that reaction from the other fighters depicted in the shirt series (including Georges St. Pierre and Brock Lesnar) has been uniformly positive, Koscheck apparently didn’t see the humor in being associated with a brand of children’s overalls. Which is too bad, because that shit is kind of hilarious.

In an odd side-note to the story, Koshcheck’s legal representation in the case will be Christian Wellisch, a retired heavyweight fighter who you might remember as Shane Carwin’s first knockout victim in the UFC, back in May 2008. Following that fight, Wellisch was briefly fired during the mass-bloodletting over AKA’s refusal to sign away their likenesses for UFC Undisputed, then fired for real when he dropped a split-decision to Jake O’Brien in his next outing. These days, he runs a law practice near San Jose.

Bonnar is WAY too big for Kos.

But I mean, in one way Kos does have a case. So does everyone else being used without their permission. Bonnar is capitalizing off of someone's image without them getting a cut.

On the flip, Bonnar might be able to get away with it as parody. He also doesn't exactly name Josh by his full name. Sure we can put two and two together, but technically he didn't name names.

I wonder how this will turn out.

Not his name, not his nickname, not his picture....no legal troubles.

Who the hell would want Koshcheck on their shirt anyway?

    Funny shirts though.

Does this mean Josh Koschek thinks he has the right on everything that resembles his name, including the lives and personal belongings of every human being who is named Josh or Joshua?

I think he thinks he's entitled to everything period.
He's entitled to be off my radar permanently.

I want one of those shirts where he's on the bottom getting his face smashed.

He has the right to make money off his image if someone else is. It's clearly an MMA related shirt. It's basically 3/4 of his full name. Even a new fan would know that it's in reference to Kos. Dude's a dick no doubt. But I can see where he's coming from. I wouldn't want someone making money off my image/name without me getting a cut.

Bonnar has technicalities on his side though. Let's see how it works out.

I hear that...but shit, why isn't Osh'Kosh'BGosh suing him? Or the makers of Garbage Pail Kids?
Way bigger rip offs to them than Koscheck. He doesn't want money from the product, he just
wants money from a lawsuit. And I do doubt that Bonnar didn't anticipate this possibility,
he probably already checked that shit with his lawyer.

True. Bonnar isn't exactly a retard and you would think this would be the first thing that would have came into mind when he thought about possible legal issues. More likely it was deliberalty done to get some media, fight hype etc.

Having said that, although I'm not a Kos fan, I do agree with him in that he deserves a slice of any profit.

Still one of the bext TUF moments was Bonnar to Sanchez in TUF 1 over the asparagus heads.

Sanchez 'What are you you my dad or something?'
    Bonnar 'I don't know, I might be'

Closely followed by Gabe Rudiger getting carted off naked on a stretcher after being a fat fuck
'Put me back in B, just put me back in' Classic stuff
