    Super-Heavy BJJ Ideas Needed

I joined an MMA gym and naturally BJJ is part of the curriculum. Well the issue is I'm 550 lbs and the other students, are well, no where near my size. Haha.

I realize my size prevents lots of JJ positions (top game, period), but I don't want to keep being the guy just sitting out because no one wants to grapple with me.

Anyone have some suggestions re:grappling I could do while I'm shedding weight like a coke fiend?

    Thanks, amigos.

So uhh, what area are you in? Maybe someone could point you in the right direction of some heavyweights.

P.s. People might think you are Taylor.

make a grappling dummy. YOutube has tons of vids on how to do this. I spent about 150 bucks to make a pretty good one that weighs just as much as i do.

use heavy bags or stability balls

Roy's always looking for grappling partners.

Enrique - Roy would smoke me, but I'd never turn down BJJ with a legit black belt. Haha.

My guess would be until you are in the low 300's you should only be wrestling tractor tires. Even then you might be hard pressed to find more than one comparable person to roll with.

If I was your coach, rolling and techs would be the last thing I would worry about. I would think the focus would be getting you moving and safely improving your cardio.

Its awesome your are hitting the gym and getting in shape. You are going to have some amazing before and after pics and an inspiring story for others as you progress!!

Im with jason - DIET should be your #1 priority, conditioning and weight loss cardio #2, and just keep training your flexibility and watching techniques and concepts while you do. BUT DO prioritize cardio and even moreso diet -- checkout Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss, its probably the most accurate ideal reference for athletic training with weight loss in mind, its pretty hard to make the extreme diet changes asked of you, but what do you want more, bread or to be a boss?

Your body is going to be holding your progress back in every measure, you will be in a better position much sooner if you get into shape then focus on technique and etc, than if you try to do them all at once.

I am doing cardio 95% of the sessions (Monday through Friday) and am dieting under the guidance of a doctor.

I just don't want to sit out during grappling all the time. LOL!

Thanks for all of your input fellas.
