    Help us settle a dispute

Me and my buddy were talking today about the anti inflammatory effects of weed. Conversation started from politics and legality and medical use of weed. Anyways, as far as I know weed has anti inflammatory effects against only certain types of inflammation ( which maybe totally wrong, maybe all inflammation are the same I dunno), he kept on arguing that it is good for all kinds of inflammation and it will help body get rid of it. Now we are both pretty clueless about what we are talking about but I know that there are some members here who have done their homework on marijuana here, so help us out.

It depends on the strain, and your bodies personal reaction to it. Peanuts are nice for some death for others. I know for me it acts as a bronchodialator, and helps me breathe if my chronic asthma gets bad. It also depends how you ingest it, what you combine it with. But yeah I think to say it acts as an anti inflammatory to everything is a bit assumptive.

To the best of my knowledge (and I am pretty well educated on the topic, having worked in one of the top clubs in Northern CA) Cannabis is not known, or at least has not been shown in any respectable way, to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to be an anti-emetic (anti-nausea), appetite stimulant, anti-depressant, sleep aid, hangover cure, stress reliever, pain killer, and many other things, but as far as I know, the only correlation between cannabis and any type of swelling is its effect on optical pressure behind the retina, which is why one of its original uses was Glaucoma.

It's too bad we can't research its effects legally - the truth is, we have no idea of what other properties (good or bad) cannabis has on the human body/mind. All we hve is empirical evidence and haphazard studies.

PM me if you have any other questions on the topic - I miss threads when work gets busy

It helps with increased bloodflow, causing bloodpressure to rise. This is because it open's your capilaries wider, and hence the red eyes. So, it depends, it can, and it can't depending on the problem. Although, I would ask google, rather then people who will give you a biased response because most people who'll answer the question smoke themselves.
