I never knew Judo was this gangsta until I had a random convo with Coach Herzog. He's like, "Man, people went crazy when Toby Imada landed that inverted triangle. I was like, what's the big deal? It happens in Judo all the time." (Somewhat paraphrased) I'm like 0_0 What?! I thought Judo was all throws. I never knew Judo had a slick ground game.

Watch this video. Tell me you wouldn't mind learning some Judo. Judo is some legit gangsta shit. More people need to know about it. And yeah, Coach Herzog is definitely a lot more than just leg locks fellas. He will show you a take down or 100. Just sayin.

Not to bash judo cause i love judo but literally every olympic judo video i've seen looks like this one

quite often the other person just grabs on and ends up stalling the other person out. good example when ronda tries to do anything on the ground, also another one that comes to mind is jason chambers on human weapon when he pulls guard here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7Qz-QH8o28

i think ronda mentioned that on the rogan podcast too,which is why she was so much more into no gi these days. Sorta like if i got a highlight video of all the sick knockouts in MMA but we all know there isnt always a knockout.

I'd imagine that the rules in Judo would incentivise people to give up their back more. When you roll with a wrestler versus a BJJ player the scrambles become drastically different. Where I train, our gym teaches a mixture of judo and sambo techniques... so there are a lot of bread and butter submissions that we do that you will usually see on the fringe end of Erik Paulson or Iminari video.
