I personally love watching fights like these. Yeah they look cocky.. but if it works.. use it. Anderson Silva, Muhammad Ali, Bones Jones, Mayweather.. They all seem to make this style work for them. I know its considered one of the core rules in fighting to keep your hands up, But when you get someone with enough speed, and then allow them to drop their hands.. if becomes VERY hard to connect a shot on them. Its just science.. the lower your hands, the faster you can bob and weave. Just picture a metronome, it works very much in the same way. The farther up you move the weight, the slower it goes back and forth. Same principal applies to fighting. When you see anderson drop his hands and start dodging punches.. Its not just because he wants to show off, its because that weight distribution allows him to move much quicker. Just like ali used to do when he would box, let his hand drop and just use his movement to dodge punches. There's definitely some tactics being used there. The set back being of course, You get hit much less, but when you DO get hit.. You dont have the cushion of your arm to absorb any of that power, plus you end up looking like an idiot if they knock you out.
