How I felt about my 1st training day at...supposably 10th planet hamilton NZ

I was very excited, and I was expecting some sort of structure that would cator people of various skill levels... but there wasn't any... we did 2 technique drills and went for 1 hour of free rolling, there was a slight problem.

we had 2 randoms stroll in who was not part of the lesson, and they just wanted free rolling, one guy had absolutely zero jiu jitsu skill and when I rolled with him he just panic attack and all strength and brutality, gouged me in the eye and wacked me across the nose twice, my eye puffed up and I had to sit out for the next 2 rolling sessions.

the other guy was a wrestler, he just sinched armbars competitively hard and brutal, and I think he hyper extended my elbow a bit, it's pretty sore.

then there was another guy that got me in a rear naked choke, I defended 3x until I slipped from sweat and I tapped early like 10x, he didn't let go he sinched crushed my windpipes and only let go after like the 15th tap.

none of these were regulated. what is going on? I felt my safety was compromised

I wasn't even taught anything remotely 10th planet....

and I was told this wasn't like "official school" it was like an "affiliation"

I'm pretty confused and wasn't too happy about it.

Damn man, where the heck did you train? NO ONE could train that way for months and months and have their body last long enough to really progress. Hell, even us guys who train safely with good training partners STILL get injured once in a while. That definitely IS NOT how 10 Do' and you definitely did have your safety compromised. 15th tap before someone released an RNC? Putting newcomers in in a big batch and not closely supervising their free rolls? That's irresponsible coaching/teaching. Sorry you had to go through that and again, training unsafe like that is NOT how 10 Do'. I hope someone on the forums who trains near you gets in contact with you so that you can get some safe, effective, long term training in so you can truly progress. Good luck brother.

Sounds like we got some more posers. Are they advertising as a 10th Planet school? How did you hear about them?

That is messed up. No one should have to put up with that kind of behavior in any school, 10th Planet or otherwise. Denny is always careful to go over the guidelines for safe rolling whenever there is someone new in the class, and I've seen him pull people aside when they didn't get the message the first time. Whoever the instructor was at that school was not doing right by his students.

I'm the one running this gym. Eddie was in New Zealand in December and EDDIE himself mentioned at the seminar that I was on the way to open a 10th planet school that's all I'm not promoting it as being 10th planet Hamilton right now since it's not official...

So let's hear my side of the story and you guys should go check "HomasterX" on youtube before taking his word for it LOL

Yesterday we re-opened our club "Fighter Factory" and a bunch of my guys are entering a grappling competition on Saturday so I went over some guard passes and we worked on some Marcelo Garcia setups (far side armbar, to north/south choke to near armbar to north/south choke) I broke down in 3 parts and then we went on rolling. We've been focusing on our top game and wrestling ( We've go a multiple times national champ and multiple Oceania champ coach) lately due to the competition being only 3 minute long matches

Eddie has met Andrew at the seminar so he knows. You guys should chill two seconds before busting my nuts !!! Check your facts first!
ANYWAYS that random guy that "strolled in" is actually a blue belt that competes and has been training for a long time. He got there a bit late due to work so the guy knows what he was doing! LOL

Last night there was 10 people on the mat ranging from a total beginner to a pro MMA fighter and they all had a blast!

Nobody's safety was at risk! Even little 120lbs girls train with us so WTF people...

I've got national champs in wrestling, pro MMA fighters, average Joes, seasoned jiu jitsu competitors from different clubs training with me and NONE I repeat NONE of them ever complained about my classes! My training methods and classes have been the same since day one!

That's what we do. You guys are far too happy to jump on the hate wagon!
