DIAZ VS CONDIT - Compustrike really doesnt mean much !

Carlos didn't win the fight.

Everyone's defending his win by using Compustrike as evidence; which doesn't mean much. Don't get me wrong I understand it matters but it solely doesn't determine an outcome of an MMA fight. MMA goes by rounds. Each round is scored and those scores are added up at the end to determine who won the fight.

Diaz controlled the ring, and pace of the fight, Carlos just back pedaled. Diaz wasn't outstruck round by round either.

I agree man, since the fight was so close, the fighter who was pushing the pace should of been considered. I gave Nick the exact same in rounds and all the my buddies agreed during the fight that Nick had to win that last round. We all dropped when the decision was read. Two of my buds are big Condit fans and agreed that since the fight was so close they thought Condit lost since Nick pushed the pace much more and had ring control. Anyways, I was pissed how Condit fought but understand since he was finding a warrior like Nick.

Perception is everything. From what I saw, it was Condit who dictated the fight and controlled the octagon. Nick is predictable. After round 1 I saw the obvious. Condit wants Nick to follow him. The strategy was so basic I was frustrated with Nick for not figuring it out.

Leg kicks, lure him to the cage, counter punch, slip out, take center cage, rinse repeat. Nick wasn't walking Condit down, he was following the leader. Why do you think that Condit was able to play his game but Nick couldn't? If Nick really was in control, he would've been able to execute his game plan.

From what I saw (and it seems the sherdog play by play guys saw it the same) Condit was the leader.

IDK man, I don't value moving forward as much as other people. I'm reminded of Matt Riddle's fight where he was the one pushing the pace but he was missing more than anything. Obviously Nick is much better, but it's a similar situation. He was moving forward but not making much happen. Meanwhile, Condit is landing frequently and playing follow the leader.

Yeah, it's interesting to see peoples differing perception on the same fight. I want a big Diaz fan by any stretch but I do like it when guys push the action as opposed to making a guy chase you. It was obviously a good game plan for Condit and his camp seems to know how to score points, therefore I don't blame the guy. I thinks it's been stated already in this forum, Diaz wouldn't change his game plan if he thinks he's winning because he thinks it's winning him the fight. His corner multiple times between rounds told him he's winning and to keep doing what he's doing.

In the end, it was a close fight and your right most analyst gave the fight to Condit which says a lot. Like you said, perception is everything.

Maybe there were more devastating strikes landed by diaz, and there were more strikes in general landed by condit. But the most devastating blow (the head kick combo) was landed by condit, and in my opinion that was the only strike that could have ended the fight, not to mention I think that his attacks in general and combos were far more interesting and technically superior to Diaz's. All in all it was an back and forth match, maybe not as exciting as an all out brawl a la Korean Zombie vs Garcia, but I would argue far more interesting. I don't really care who wins at the end of a fight if it goes to decision, i actually think without a finish it should just be a draw (but that's a different conversation). I would have been happy seeing either of the guys come out victorious, they both stuck to a game plan and succeeded in their game plan, it really just came down to how the judges valued the different strategies. Condit: stay out of range, land when you can. Diaz: move forward relentlessly, be 'aggressive'.
Also please don't say that the leg kicks didn't do anything simply because Diaz was moving forward, that's what he does he won't let pain get between him an a victory. By the fourth and fifth round if you look closely to Diaz's feet, it takes him some time/ a studderstep or two to recover from the kicks. (Also not saying that Condit did enough for them to really count toward anything, i'm just saying that they weren't for nothing)

i gave the fight to condit im a big fan of both guys but i think condit had more effective striking diaz came forward more but he was still getting tagged and i read alot of places people said condit was running the whole fight but where nick diaz does the most damage is when he has people against the cage and is landing body shots so what was he supposed to do?stay there and get hit? how come no one said overeem was running when he didnt go to the ground with werdum?i think people are upset cuz the fight wasnt as exciting as they thought it was gonna be and i am to but still condit won that fight
