The only thing I can really contribute to a sort of breakdown is that almost all they seemed to care about is taking the back. The entirety of their seminar was about the leg drag, which admittedly I had very little experience with. But, most of what I saw them do, which was true about Galvao also, was getting to the leg drag from everywhere possible and mastering that transition to the back.
Like a lot of things I saw over there I was a little surprised at first and then realized it made so much sense that I couldnt believe I hadnt been focusing on it already. Pretty cool stuff. The Mendes Bros said they are opening a school pretty soon in New Port. Should be pretty rad.
Yeah they do not like side control, and are always attacking the back. Lots of interesting things about their game. They do not ever use any type of half guard. They stick to dlr, rdlr, butterfly, closed, and 50/50. They use the Kimura grip for everything, to pass, sweep, take the back, etc. Same with the front-headlock grip when rolling into anacondas, attacking the guillotine or marce when an opponent comes to the knees. Even the way they control the back and finish the choke is atypical.
