Slick Rick is the Mendes brothers 10th Planet expert. This will be his third seminar with them
plus he has their instructional. Third time rolling with them too. In the land of the blind the one
eyed man is king. Slick Rick just won his weight division in the Gokor tournament too.
    You're the man Rick.

About to get the NoGi portion of the seminar on at the Mendes bros seminar-Sunnyvale. Yesterday, met Caio Terra. He was cool and funny. Met a guy that used to train with Denny, named Wyman. He was a cool dude.

Yesterday's gi sesssion was eye opening. The whole time I'm thinking, "how do I make this work for nogi?". It's these mind opening sessions that makes the entire jiu jitsu game fun to play... All the moves transfer back and forth with minor tweaks.

I already posted my match results on FB. I'll post here for the interested, as video is prohibited when at a Mendes seminar. GUI Mendes and I went the distance. No submissions.
Raphael eventually caught me with a wrist lock from mount position. Then we tangled up legs and right before we could see who could reach the sub first, Caio called time. Darn!
Fun none-the-less. And not bad for my 18th or 19th time in the gi, when I see black belts getting crazy subbed before me.

Check back for updated no gi results.

Back from the seminar posted at the hotel. It was a great day of NoGi. Mendes brothers showed nice inverted de la riva options The one's that caught my eye: Inverted de la riva to modified swim move/ arm bar, inverted de la path to back control. Once again, eye opening...

Would love to show you all when I see you in person. Not good to be throwin their techs up without their consent. Ill be in 10th riv possibly Monday to show the crew. I'll be at HQ on Thursday to show Eddie and crew. I'll be in Vista on Sunday to show Ryan and crew.

    Now on to the matches:
    1) First up was a cool guy from AKA. He was a blue belt and was back from surgery so i went light.

    2) Next up was GUI Mendes. I locked in the heel, and i never try to prove a point to anyone, you know me. I let go, we kept going and I eventually got caught in a leg lock. No worries, I knew what was up. But funny thing was he pulled RG and tried to clear. (I don't mind but I think this had Caio all over it. I told Caio I was under Bollinger, the guy he rolled with in Springfield. Just a hunch, not pointing blame)... Anyhow, RG got stamped out no prob if you know what I mean.

    3) On to another guy from AKA. Cool guy, came up to ask to roll. No worries. I'm all for it. Got some nice finishes there, but my mind was on Raphael next.

    4) So on to Raphael. Stalemate but I think the highlight of the match was surviving and escaping the triangle.

All in all it was a good weekend of training. Mendes brothers are the premier grapplers in the game, and as Caio mentioned, at the front of "modern jiu jitsu.". Osssss!
