Cobrinha also has a back take counter when the guy starts to posture up in his 7 volume DVD series. Can't find a link for that at the moment.

If you go for the FM ankle lock preemtively, the guy is going to have trouble standing up.

It also seems like if you transitioned to the drowning jiu immediately, it would nullify any standing.
anyone who wrestles or has explosive movement would not get caught in that at all lol

This version of the star sweep is actually kinda workin for me at 1:50. I also like fallin down for a reap to calf slicer.

Gettin perpendicular is definitely the answer, but it can be so hard to get on some one who is bigger or stronger with badass posture. Gotta combine my bird and icepick dipset style i think.

    Thanx homies. Invaluable asset.

Are you talking about the star sweep because it's good enough for Ryan Hall and Jeff Glover and Fabio Gurgel and Marcelo Garcia? Are you trolling or something because I don't like people laughing at me? It makes me angry!! Hulk SMASH!!

What a great attack combination. As it has already been mentioned, I always use the Hazelett against strong guys who hold my omaplata off by posturing. I find hooking under the chin almost like a Hazelett variation without holding the left wrist in place. I then sit up and start butt scooting backwards straightening the arm for the submission (armbar). This is very high percentage for me most days.

Awesome thread. I recently dropped about 30 pounds to get to 155-160 range and am learning that being a lightweight is a completely different ball game. Its taking some time to get used to being picked up and bench-pressed so much.
