I wish I saw the douchey looking blonde kid talking shit before the fight cause I just felt bad for the guy. I mean he was clearly in enemy territory with like 20 fuckin Brazilians surrounding him all routing for him to get his ass kicked. It seems like he was probably talking shit about how jiu jitsu sucks and he could kick ralek's ass, w/e, but without seeing it myself that video made me uncomfortable.

In terms of the jiu jitsu, I too was unimpressed. How about a submission attempt other than waiting for the RNC to come around?

There was maybe 20 people total in the video and most of them looked like high school kids. Only maybe three or four of them were cheering Ralek on the rest seemed pretty quiet. Other than Ralek and the person coaching him in portuguese what makes you think any of them were Brazilian. Would you prefer he broke the kids arm instead of setting up a rnc? The kid showed up to Raleks house that alone gives me enough reason to believe he was asking for it.

i dunno man. its a real fight we're dealing with here. why go for a sub attempt and risk letting the other guy get lucky? control is king in real life.

I agree with Matt why wait? He could've blasted the kid with knees to the face all day while in side control. Forget the sub attempts he could've KO'd the kickboxer

I can't imagine what context would cause Ralek to kick the kid in the back after he let go of the choke? And who was screaming bitch? Having done 2 seminars with Ryron, Im amazed the Gracies allow this video to be up with their name on it.

On the DVD versions of Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Action they have some footage that wasn't on the VHS version. I think this fight may be one of those additions. Not 100% sure though.

I can 100% understand waiting for the RNC rather than taking an arm: I got challenged by a guy who was a 2nd degree black in hapkido at a party and when I went for the arm he bit me on the back of the leg and held on like a pit bull.

Plus, if you do cause injury you have to think about it from a legal standpoint. Life or death do what you've got to do, but in what could be considered a "normal" fight where your life isn't at risk the RNC is just about the safest thing to go for.

I will have to hear the full story, but I have to say at this point in time it is kind of beneath the Gracies to be accepting back yard challenges with an obnoxious camera man taping it. Their are already plenty of kickboxing vs jiu jitsu videos out there. My respect for that branch of Gracies just dropped a bit.
