Finally bumped into an Eddie disliker. I need to vent!!

So far I've heard this about Eddie and 10th planet from people online.

1. Eddie is a druggie loser.
2. Eddie steals moves.
3. Eddie disrespects jiu jitsu and other styles of it.
4. The rubber guard is not viable in grappling or mma.
5. 10th planet doesn't produce any top grapplers.

I saw someone in a comment section on youtube claiming he trained with Eddie for a year and a half, and apparently all Eddie did was brag about beating Royler, saying "I'll kick that guys fucking ass in a rematch", he also said he rolled with Eddie and Eddie never submitted him the entire time he trained with him.

It just seems like these people have all read or watched the same video of someone saying these things about Eddie, because so many people go around spouting it off almost verbatim.

In my experience, 99% or more of the guys who are talking like they know some shit about jiu jitsu (especially to brand new folks) are without a black belt. So I have a ready-made response to just about any hater. "I don't have a black belt yet so I just keep working on everything." It seems to me that anybody who knows a lot about jiu jitsu knows how much they don't know. Whenever I offer some help to a guy or make a correction it almost always comes with the disclaimer that I'm only a blue belt and there are probably 15 other ways to do this that I don't know. I'm always mindful of the fact that I have a lifetime of learning ahead of me and only four years behind me. That tips the scales pretty heavily towards "I don't know shit" vs "I got this shit solid."

My other very specific defense for Eddie is simple: The guy is a second degree black belt from Jean Jacques Machado. "Is your anti-10th Planet argument REALLY that a 2nd degree BB doesn't know what he's doing? So you're saying that Jean Jacques Machado doesn't know what he's doing either -- since he promoted Eddie himself? So your real argument then is that your blue belt qualifies you to dissect and analyze the depth and quality of the jiu jitsu game of both JJ Machado and one of his most successful students?" Hmmm.

Some people are just gonna hate. You just gotta take what works for you and run with it. The last tournament I did people couldnt stop my rubber guard or any of the techniques I learned because of Eddie Bravo. So I know it works and Im gonna keep doing it

Hate comes from fear which is almost always bred from insecurity. You would've been within your rights to ask him to chill for the sake of a positive environment. ESPECIALLY since you're doing it gratis!

I catch a "little" flak at my school about 10pjj but not really the system. It's more of a *aw shucks* kind of kidding about the different names. But there is no denying that the system works.
