    which tournament to attend??

We were set to go to Michigan No-gi open tournament April 22nd in Detroit MI. I just learned of NAGA chicago for April 21st. Michigan tournament has more restrictive "Gi like" rules, might be better since we have not trained heel hooks or twisting knee locks/ counters ever, because they are not allowed in amature MMA around here. Naga sounds more fun and much bigger and it is 2 hrs closer. This is the first tournament for all of us. I want to do what is best for our team.So what do you all think, smaller more restricted tournament or go for the big show!!

If doing both isnt an option I would go with the closer bigger event just to get more matches in. But I have no experience as Im hoping NAGA Chicago will be my first competition.

That’s up to you/your coach. Note though, that just like you are being forced to choose one, so are the other schools. Most usually go to the bigger event. This may result in near empty brackets and a disappointing tournament at the smaller event. The imfo you have listed seems to scream “Go to NAGA! It’s even closer!!” to me, but I may not have the whole picture.

The NAGA events in Chicago had some of the biggest turnouts last year in NAGA History according to Kipp. Comp is solid and alot of the division are twenty-thirty dudes deep. Be aware of sandbagging wrestlers for sure. I think we will have maybe 30-50 competitors if we get a good turn out from all the affiliates and Ronins. Hope to see you there.

Josh, how far is it from your place? My computer still says Melee is infected, do you have 10th p rashguards for sale? Several of us might want them. If we decide on NAGA, there will be at least 6-8 of us coming down.

Greg in my opinion you guys should come to Chicago NAGA it seems to be the bigger and better ;D
but more so because 10p is going to be taking it with some force and the more reppin the team the better!

10p Chicago does not have a store for RashGuards etc, just 10p Chicago North shirts and patches when they are around...

Dan beat me to it. You can always hit up Steve from Melee. I was on the site the other day and it said they had some in stock. The event will be about a half hour to 40 mins tops away from my gym.
