With as many 10th planet seminars that are going on around the country I would also opt to record and compile them into a DVD. I'm a big fan of DVD's and having readily available access to the video on a screen bigger than my computer screen. I say the 10th planet peeps conducting seminars record the seminar, edit for technique, nuggets of valuable information, etc., and start a series of DVD's. I think it would be more cost effective than streming and more beneficial to the 10th planateer's out there. If you stream it you only get to see it once. On DVD you can see it as much or as little as you want. What do you guys think?

That would be a really awesome thing. A lot more people would be able to participate because you won't have the distance to travel. You could charge the same amount you would for any seminar and have more people register.

There are a couple downsides though. The biggest is that the instructor teaching the seminar would not be able to monitor the students drilling the techniques and correct mistakes. So you would need to have an instructor present to monitor and ask questions for the students if necessary.

The other thing is, everyone would probably need to invest in a projector that can hook up to a computer and have a large display of the instruction on the wall or screen. Or a couple/few schools could chip in for the projector and meet together for the seminars at each others gyms. That would actually create an amazing comradery I think.

I think the idea is incredible!!!

Ok, just to be clear on what i meant...I think streaming live and/or having access to instructor led seminars would be awesome. I DONT think that "web seminars" would be awesome, for all the obvious reasons. I find that in jiu jitsu it's the tiniest details that make the biggest differences, and you can only get that from having a human being in front of you that knows those details.

    Pay it forward.

Do you mean just to watch individually? I'm sorry that I'm not following you, Brandon P.

Here's an example of my thoughts:

I train in Mobile, AL and there is a gym in Pensacola, FL (2 hours away) and a 10PJJ school in Decatur (6 hours) under Brandon McCaghren. We could get Brandon and the guys from FL to come to Mobile to participate in a seminar with Einstein being held in Michigan. We could all register for this seminar and watch it with a projector and drill the techniques together. And Brandon will assist in drilling and will be able to ask Einstein any questions via the internet for everyone training. I really don't think it would be that hard. There will just have to be a limit to how many people "attend". But we would all be considered 1 because Brandon, being an instructor, will be the one to communicate with Einstein. So there could be 40 people training at 40 various locations, with one person from each location communicating with the instructor teaching the seminar. But everyone would still be charged the same amount (or a little less since we wouldn't be there in person) to participate.

Does that make any sense or is it kinda sporadic? I'm not good at explaining things without visual aids or actually talking to someone. But that's what I think. And that's a very rough set of ideas I thought about in the passed 30 minutes, so obviously details would have to be drastically changed. But I think it could work....maybe?

^^ THIS!! I vote DVD. It would be a SHAME not to film ALL 10th Planet Seminars. I would buy them ALL. Good way to advertise, also. "... Dude! have you seen the new Bollinger seminar?.. Nah, who's that?.... WTH?!?? Watch this man... WHOLLLY COW!!! WHAT'S THIS CALLED?!??... 10TH PLANET JIUJITSU, BRO." BAM!! New student.. :-)

    Brandon,

I'm confused as well. When you stream somthing it's online. IE, Budovideos streaming tournaments live on their site. That's what streaming somthing live is. But when it's a seminar then it becomes an online/web/internet seminar. Streaming somthing live over the internet is the only way to give people from around the country remote access to an instructor led seminar. Going to a live or online seminar is having access to an instructor led seminar.

I was drunk when I wrote that.

    Where am I?

What i was really getting at is that having access to the seminars online or whatever would be awesome, as a supplement to training, but there is no substitute for being in the room with the actual instructor.

    Thats my 2 cents.

But Heidi, what you were saying about a seminar projected at a school, but with another instructor there to guide, would be great.

If I was not clear this time, i'm just going back to bed.
