    Seat belt hand position

Quick question, when in the seat belt, which hand do you have over on top when gripping? The choking arm (over arm) or the under hook arm?

I noticed Marcelo likes to have the under arm on top, I guess the reason is the person fights off that arm and leaves the choking arm to attack, but I seen a Robert Drysdale clip and he says the choking arm should be on top for a quicker attack with it because the other hand isnt getting in the way

    What do you prefer?

I prefer overhook on bottom. Not only do I think it's better for the choke, but I think it makes a stringer and tighter hold as well. Think about which foot goes over top in the spiderweb position. One way is tighter and makes for a more solid position.

I prefer having the underhook on top. For the marcelo reasons that you stated.

After thinking about it more, I'm sticking with marcelos way, I like to use that under arm to hook the arm and trap with my leg, easier transition plus if you have the thumb out it doesn't affect the choking arm at all trying to slide up

Coach Zog teaches to "hide" the choking arm. I forget why. But yeah, I guess we're all with Marcelo on this one.

Well for the most part that way is better because your opponent will typically try to get his back to the mat and if you have the "over" on the bottom your opponent would be escaping into the choke because your choking arm is right there.
