Insomnia - Anyone Got Any Advice?

Hey guys and gals, I need some help sleeping.

When I was in Austin, I drove a cab every night for a few
years. My body rhythm has shifted to the night time completely.

Now...I go to the gym and work Jiu-Jitsu at 8:30am, work outside
in the heat during the day, then go back to train again in the evening.
All of this, and I still can't sleep at night.

I wouldn't bitch about this, except that it's seriously frustrating.
It doesn't matter how tired I am or when I go to bed, I'm not
gonna fall asleep until 4 or 5 in the morning at the earliest most
    nights.

I have been using Melatonin, sleep herbs, white noise machines,
and everything else other than drugging myself to sleep each night.

I'm just hoping someone out there can help me by naming
something I haven't tried, or by sharing a solution that worked
    for them, or anything really.

I don't have insurance at the moment, so I prefer not to go to
the doctor, but that may be the final solution if I can't find anything
    else to work.

    Any help is appreciated.

I take Ambien and swear by it. It's the only thing that gets me to sleep. I tried all of that other stuff also and it just made me feel messed up in the morning. Ambien is the only thing I tried that doesn't give me that hung over feeling in the morning. I sound like a commercial but I understand how screwed up insomnia is and really appreciate a good nights sleep. Good luck, I hope you find something that works.

Try smoking the real sleeping herb that should work have you tried a relaxing yoga session before going to bed ? for me those two work pretty damn well

I will look further into dietary changes Clinton, thanks for the advice.

Matthew, I have tried Ambien in the past, but not while battling
these extreme episodes of insomnia. I actually have one sitting
around somewhere in my box of random drugs. It is years old,
but I can't find anything that says it would be detrimental to me
at that point, just maybe not work as well. My question is what
kind of time frame do you set aside for an Ambien night?

Give it eight hours of sleep time. I always make sure I'm in bed when I take it also. It hits me pretty fast and they don't lie about those sleep walking episodes. I stayed up forgetting that I took the pill to watch a movie. Good thing my younger brother trains with me. We rolled for a few minutes... in my living room, at least that's what I was told. I can't remember shit about it and thankfully no one got hurt.

Like any drug you've got to feel it out for yourself but heed the warnings. Definitely do not fight Ambien and stay awake. You take the pill, your head hits the pillow.

Sometimes weed helps, but only temporarily. I can get to sleep
with it sometimes, but then I will wake up in a couple hours and
be up the rest of the night. I have slowed my marijuana intake
quite a bit lately, so it is highly effective when I use it, but still
temporary for the night. I have not tried yoga before bed, which
may be of some help, since it seems to be some sort of anxious
energy I am kept up with.

The only things I have used that help every time are benzodiazepines
and derivatives (Klonopin and Xanax). I don't like Xanax, and Klonopin
is nice, but I certainly don't want to need it every night to sleep.

I have made many life style changes lately, including stopping the use
of speed like drugs related to phenethylamines, amphetamines and cathinones,
as well as many other drugs that I was regularly using. Perhaps the body
chemistry has been altered in some way, along with my sleep cycle.

Very interesting link Clinton....maybe I will try that.
I can definitely make it that long without eating, but I'm
training and working so much right now that I will have
to find a day that will be healthy for that. Thanks again.

I appreciate it, but that is the difference in being tired and having
insomnia. I can stay up for an extra day, and still not sleep at night.
