Played with it, I don't like Almeida's pass (for myself) since clearing the leg across my body is too far away from what I am already doing. I've been doing this sweep instead as a recounter when my leg reap gets jammed up.

Reaching for my hamstring and trapping the knee is already close enough to my muscle memory that it doesn't take much adjustment to ad this sweep. Also, to stand up back in base, you lift their opposite leg with your free instep, grab their ankle with your hand and then stand up in base ready to pass (which again, is already mechanically similar to the sambo leg knot). Or, you can just re-attack with an ankle lock or rolling toe hold (if they don't clear your hand grip on their foot) .

Already, I've hit this sweep on tons of people of all sizes. It's very easy and saves me from getting stalled out from not being allowed to use a heel hook.

The Leg Drag pass has been injected into my game and I'm using it alot to set up my outside leg attack entries as well, i'll be shooting some video on those in the comming months. The Mendes bros have some sick leg drag passes, check out there comp footage.

However the Sweep is still "iffy".

Getting thier leg to the inside is not happening by lifting the hips, the reason its working for Almeida in the becasue his parter is on his back knee, no one defending the heisman position is going to stay based on their knee, they will stand, spin, or turn in and pressure. My parterns know that lifting that leg is going to get them heel hook so they are putting weight on and standing. When thats happening "lifting the hips" is not going to get his foot of the mat to move it to the inside, Scott and I have played with alternative ways to get the leg to the inside, most of which seem clumsy at the moment.

However that being said where I have had success with it is when my parnter brings the leg over themselves in an attempt to prevent me from doing "the Sickle" (sweeping them backwards toward their butt) to the knee knot, and they try to step over into knee on the belly on the other side.

Its an awesome addition to what we've been working on, someone sent me this video last summer and we've been playing with it ever since.
