Uh, yeah, that's the Freddie we want to see...the one who was knocking at death's door. Great idea there.

For those of you too young to remember, this is Freddie Mercury:

Was insane - in a fucking awesome way. Was probably a very emotional moment for 2pac's nearest and dearest. :-(

I've watched this so many times already, and it never gets old. Just the way it's introduced and the fact that it seems so damn real. Hearing 2Pac perform "Hail Mary" from beyond the grave is just EERIE, but I love it. And to segway into "2 of America's Most Wanted" with Snoop live was just awesome.

"This is not based on archival footage,” says Ed Ulbrich, chief creative officer at Digital Domain. “This is not him performing at some point. This a completely original, exclusive performance only for Coachella and that audience.” In other words, it’s a digital likeness of Tupac designed to interact with his co-performers and the crowd. At one point, Tupac even shouts “What the f— is up, Coachella!” even though the music festival didn’t exist until three years after his death."

It's just a big transparent screen, not a hologram.
