Rubber guard was designed to be a really hard position get free from, as well as the Lock Down. Where you really see your game improve is when you start drilling guard passes. If you can just flow through people's guards and attack you'll be a beast. That's how Marcelo rolls. Just be patient, put in the reps and then put in more reps. They say you have to do something 1,000 times for it to become muscle memory, so it really is just doing and waiting for your body to get used to the movements. I write down on a notepad where I feel like I am improving and where I still have holes, it really helps me. In being a white belt you just have to hone the basics and above all else survive. Blue and Purple is when attacking and offense really start becoming a factor. Breathe, slow, down, think and above all else don't be your own worst critic on the mat. It'll come together.
