Breaking the Lockdown w/ Rener Gracie

These passes work great. However, if you play the lockdown often and for several years these attempts to pass aren't that strong. Lockdown is my go to game. I love the bottom and have played it since 2005. The major issue I see with most lockdown players is once they get the lockdown they straighten their legs and lie their. You have a major hold on the dude's leg. Why not use that and whip him around. He is will have a hard time attempting any pass because he can't establish base. You have 5-0 control if he tries to sit or put his shoulder pressure into you. You can bring the knee back to your belly if he breaks your lockdown. Just mini stop and lock him down again. Remember, their are other levels to playing the lockdown as with any position. That is why Eddie has been so successful with it. Just look at his match with Royler when he was still experimenting with it. How many times did Royler pass? Once or twice maybe. I don't care who I go against. I'm not worried about them breaking my lockdown once I have it on. They maybe will keep me from sweeping them and force me to go to butterflies or prison guard, but the moves shown here are no threat unless you let him dictate the pace. Just my experience

Not hating on the lockdown. I use it myself. Plus I don't roll with ace lockdown players all the time, but I think Invisible Collar is the toughest 10th planet based guard to break once it is locked on. Lockdown hasn't really been an issue at all for me to pass and my pass method isn't even as silky as Rener's. I personally prefer the pass Marcelo used on Eddie in their taped roll. Or using a few of Eric Paulson's dirty tricks. But mostly, I don't allow myself to get stretched out in the first place. I would really like to visit a good 10th Planet school if I ever get the money and see if my passing still works there. I haven't come across a 10th Planet player in tournaments in my weight division here in the Midwest, but I would like to just to see how my game stacks up against it.

Text book defense, although when playing nogi, the twister pass works better. The head and arm pass, the first one he showed is perfect for gi and nogi.

If he is clinching properly, all he has to do is pull you up or not allow you to move down your torso.

Twister pass is my goto. I liked his three booms tho.

I like twister pass to and it is my go to as well, but if you can get double underhooks from the top, buttock compressor is almost 100%.

Not really. I also have double over hooks and you can bet I will be focusing on not letting you move down my torso.

I will agree that if you connect your hands around the ass it's damn near 100%. Which is why I will focus on not letting this happen.

yea, buttocks compressor is cool. if you clinch well with your doubles hes not getting down there though. Also like bobby said, if you get double unders im getting double overs. for me personally there are gonna be feet flying at your face if i get an overhook on the outside leg side from half anyway. twister pass is money.
