Hope they go to war on their feet, one person who can keep up with Aldo is Pettis.

I thought Pettis was going to fight the winner of Hendo/Melendez. Aldo is 145, Pettis 155. Aldo should fight the winner of Swanson/Poirier

Awww man, I hope Pettis made the right choice. He's a pretty lean 155'er. Dropping an extra 10lbs means either an unhealthy energy sapping dehydration cut, or a loss of muscle mass. Not sure if he'll be able to perform at his best at 145. I mean, skill for skill, I actually believe Pettis can beat Aldo. But factoring in a weight cut, I'm doubtful. Either way, I'm rooting for Pettis.

Everyone mentions how hard Aldo leg kicks, but it seems no one mentions how hard Pettis head/body kicks. Watch his form. That kid throws his whole body into it. It's a beautiful sight.

I agree. But truthfully, a Pettis/Aldo fight will sell more. That's the current nature of the sport.

Dana says Pettis hardly cuts at all to make 155, so 145 shouldn't be too much of a problem. I wouldn't be surprised if Aldo and Pettis walk around at a very similar weight off-season. :-)

Oh wow, I didn't know that.

I don't know man. Pettis' last fight had him looking SUPER fast against Cowboy. Aldo only looked fast in the first round and 2nd round. After that Frankie looked like the faster fighter IMO. Plus Pettis finds his range in like 2 seconds. I know we haven't seen enough of Pettis to make note of his improvement. But I think the reason is because he's improved so much that he just ends fights like nothing. Nobody's put away Cowboy with strikes. Meanwhile Pettis is landing at will and puts him away. Says a lot about Pettis.

I have a feeling it's going to be an incredible fight.

Stupid move by Pettis, should have just rematched Benson. He just leaped frogged everyone in the Featherweight division, fuck guys that earned it like Ricardo Lamas and the Korean Zombie. Why have a ranking system if it doesn't mean anything, it's like who ever bought Dana a beer that month gets a crack at the Featherweight title while legitimate contenders are stuck in limbo while these lightweights who haven't even made a practice run to 145. It is fucking with the legitimacy of the division. Dana wants money, quick money he doesn't care about the guys that earned it. I say give Pettis Korean Zombie and if he gets past him, give him the shot. People would watch it and it gives him and chance to experience the division.

I definitely understand your point. But I feel like there's another point. I agree that the next in line should get a shot. I don't like that Pettis just cut in line like that. Especially when he was knocking on a title shot that he could've gotten. But at the same time, out of everyone who has fought recently, Pettis has looked the most impressive. And what interests fans isn't just champs taking on contenders, but champs taking on contenders who pose a legitimate threat. No knock to Lamas, but I'm not sure if he has the tools to contend with Aldo. Pettis seems like the bigger threat. So a Pettis fight will generate more interest.

In the end, this is a business. And Muhammed Ali once cut in line to get a title shot via trash talk. And that turned out pretty well for him.
