Try getting to your side ASAP. Go to your side while engaging the lockdown and go for the leg right away instead of double underhooks. If you get good at this, you don't really need to whip up. Rather, make adjustments and maybe some mini whip ups.

Try moving forward in the path, if he's smashing you and you can't execute the whip-up, try one of the variations of the stomp, an get up to your butt with butterflies.. see if that works..
I've had some recent success with baiting my opponent with my arm, sort of trying to execute the JoL then they attack my arm thinking thinking they got a key lock, you have to be fast with this one, an just at the right moment i "C" cup there armpit and bridge to the arm their attacking pimpin armin out. Most of the time, my opponent goes over and if they try to push back, then keep the pimp arm extended an scoot your legs out..

Yeah... I only have a hard time getting to my side when I can't get the DUs. That's where the real battle is. If he latches onto your head, just go to dogfight. If you can't get the DUs then stomp. Learn how to do a good jaws of life. Also, don't whip up if you can just get on your side... I see people try to whip up when the guy is postured way up in the air. Sit up and snag DUs and pull him down for the easy sweep.
