Nate Diaz has earned quite a bit of UFC postfight bonus money in his day. And now there's another $50,000 to add to his bank account.
The pride of Stockton earned Knockout of the Night honors Saturday night at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in Las Vegas, for making short work of veteran Gray Maynard.
It was the 11th postfight bonus of his career -- Diaz previously won five Fights of the Night and five Submissions of the Night -- which put him in sole possession of third place for most bonuses. Joe Lauzon and Anderson Silva each have 12. Diaz surpassed the retired Chris Lytle, who has 10.
Meanwhile, an extra pound cost Josh Sampo $50,000. Sampo weighed in at 127 for his flyweight fight with Ryan Benoit. Sampo's second-round submission of Benoit earned Fight of the Night honors. But because Sampo missed weight, Benoit takes home the entire $100,000 bonus, both his share and Benoit's.
Chris Holdsworth, meanwhile, pocketed Submission of the Night for his rear-naked choke of Davey Grant. The TUF 18 men's bantamweight champion pocketed an extra 50K.
Meanwhile, the TUF 18 season awards were also handed out Saturday night, as determined by fan voting. Getting $25,000 apiece were Sarah Moras, who took Submission of the Season for her quarterfinal finish of Peggy Morgan; Jessica Rakoczy, who won Knockout of the Season for taking out Roxanne Modaferri in the quarterfinals; and Raquel Pennington and Jessamyn Duke took Fight of the Season for Pennington's quarterfinal decision win
