Probably silly of me to weigh in at all, but my professor gave me some feedback on what he liked, so I'll venture to try to remember some of it.
* You can put quite a bit of pressure, so they feel they have to move.
* But it's difficult for them to move. They can't easily bump you: you're sensing and checking their hips. They can't easily reclaim half guard.
* The combination between feeling pressured, squeezed, claustrophic and beaten and the inability to alleviate it should cook your opponent. (I know it does me)
* The thing they have remaining to get into the game is their arm. They can reach down to try to get their arm under one of your legs. But this seems predictable and seems to invite a mounted triangle. (Maybe someone smarter than me can validate or falsify my theory that reaching your arm down like that could subject it to arm attacks, isolates their other arm and leaves their neck open to chokes).
Jiu Jitsu Unleashed shows an armbar from this position that looks devastating and potentially hard to stop. I want to try it.
Ok, someone smart should talk now.
But hey, do you have a link?
