It's gotten to the point where I don't mind being mounted anymore. The reason being is that I hit the Hail Mary escape at least 99% of the time on everyone including my instructor. I rely on this all the time and it works. I just wonder if I should really worry about much else in the way of mount escapes? Has anyone experience being shut down on this escape? All feedback welcome
As Eddie said in the Mastering the Rubber Guard DVD, "nothing in Jiu-Jitsu works 100% of the time" (something like that). So, it's indeed recommendable to have 2-3 options to escape from each position. That been said, I also like using the hail mary mount escapes and generally, I would let my opponent go from side control to the mount, just so I can escape with hail mary. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, but some times the opponent is so good in stalling on the side control that, if I am not being successful in escaping from the side control and I am running out of time, I will "invite" the opponent to mount, so I can escape right away. Again, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, but I do it sometimes too
