truck to back question

In case someone wants to transition from the truck to the back, is it preferable to stop by the crotch ripper before transitioning to the back? Does the crotch riper leg position facilitates the transition?

I forget which MTS but there was a whole sequence on Cuey Control (spelling?) that is exactly what you are describing.

You can also just use the Truck Roll strait to a back take kind of skipping over the actual truck position. I call this the Sergio because a buddy of mine in Atlanta; a wicked black belt named Sergio is the master of this. Apparently he used to use the Truck all the time as a purple belt but now he just transitions strait to the back because he finds RNC higher percentage for the finish. Its hard to describe but he showed me how to guide the opponents hip with your hand during the roll and you can seamlessly take the back, kind of cupping the hip bone and guiding the head/neck strait into an over/under control or RNC.

Personally the Twister is my favorite submission so I actually PREFER the Truck to the Back... but of course both are important.

Thanks, in MTS 102, I watched you having your feet pushing on the guy's leg, just like in the crotch ripper position, even if the crotch ripper is not part of the transition to the back, is placing your feet on his leg preferable to keeping it in the truck position? I have seen both? Thank you.

My question had to do with the leg placement of the aggressor prior to getting the back. I have seen different leg placement in different videos and am unsure if one is favorable to the other.

So as Eddie said, one doesn't have anything to do with the other. So in regards to your question of favorability; it depends on how you like to configure your legs when in the truck. I personally prefer to use a triangle instead of the tradtional "lock down". Either way, when you're transtioning you need to get your check to the back. So utilizing whatever leg configuration that gives you the most control of the hips and therefore, smoother transition to the back/seat belt.

^ Agree. I also triangle my legs and stomp to create the momentum to get to/climb up to the seat belt. I tend to do it pretty fast and it works even with bigger opponents.
