sounds like a similar path to mine. we are a tang soo do school. have been for 40+ years. jamie started incorporating grappling into his program about 15 years ago because he wanted his students to be well rounded. he has a 3rd degree in JJJ. technically he has never ranked in BJJ, but i'd put him against most anyone. he wipes the mat with me, for sure. Guys please correct me and I am not trying to stir shit just curious.
I have only competed once in Judo and only done it for a couple of years so could be completly wrong (Us Aussies can be a bit behind the times), but I was always of the understanding that putting yourself on your back (a scrafice throw essentially) unless you pull off the throw is ippon to the other guy/gal. Just wondering if these were Judo rules or some form of hybrid?
Just curious.
